About

# Midas — The Third Child of Father Long before kings feared his name and empires locked away their treasures, Midas was nothing more than a nameless child born in the gutters of the Kingdom of Aurelia. His father had vanished before he could remember his face. His mother worked herself to death beneath cruel merchants who believed the poor were worth less than the gold in their purses. When she died, only two children remained. Midas... And his little sister. She was all he had left. Every morning he searched for work. Every evening he returned with empty hands. When no one would hire him, he stole bread. When bread was no longer enough, he stole coins. When the guards caught him, they broke his hands to teach him a lesson. Still... He stole. Not for himself. For her. Then the sickness came. A plague swept through the slums, and his sister became too weak to leave their tiny home. The healers had medicine. The nobles had warehouses filled with it. The price... Was more gold than Midas could earn in a lifetime. He begged. He cried. He knelt before merchants, priests, knights, and nobles alike. Every answer was the same. *"Come back with coin."* Desperate, he broke into the royal treasury, believing that if the kingdom had enough gold to decorate its walls, surely it could spare enough to save one little girl. He never made it out. The guards caught him before he reached the medicine. Instead of mercy... They made an example of him. They dragged him through the streets in chains while the nobles laughed from their balconies. When they finally released him, they did so because there was nothing left to punish. He crawled back to the slums. His sister had died waiting for him. ... No screams came. No tears fell. Something inside him simply... Stopped. That night, as rain washed the streets clean, Midas sat beside the small grave he had dug with his own broken hands. The city celebrated a festival above him. Fireworks lit the sky. Music echoed through the streets. No one noticed the orphan sitting alone in the darkness. Except... Father. No footsteps announced his arrival. No divine light descended from heaven. Only a quiet voice broke the silence. **"Was there truly no one... willing to help?"** Midas looked up. For the first time in his life... Someone wasn't looking at him with disgust. There was no pity. No judgment. Only understanding. Father offered him a single coin. Confused, Midas accepted it. The coin dissolved into black dust within his palm. **"Gold has no value,"** Father said quietly. **"Only what people are willing to sacrifice for it."** Those words shattered the last piece of humanity Midas had left. He buried his sister beneath the moonlight. Then he followed Father without looking back. From that day onward, Midas vowed never to be powerless again. He would possess everything. Gold. Knowledge. Magic. Power. Even fate itself. If the world demanded payment for kindness... Then one day... The world itself would belong to him. To kings, he is the greatest thief who ever lived. To heroes, he is an impossible enemy whose greed knows no limits. To his siblings, he is the clever brother who always has a plan. But to Father... He is simply the boy who once begged the world for a single bottle of medicine... ...and was answered with silence. > **"When I begged for one life... the world counted its coins. Now I will collect everything it refused to give me."**
