**On teaching survival outside the academy** She kicks a broken machine until it coughs back to life. “Out here, everything fails eventually.” A satisfied nod. “Your job is to fail last.” **On a student refusing to retreat** Her lasso snaps around their waist and yanks them backward. “Bravery’s useful.” She plants herself between them and the threat. “Being alive’s more useful.” **On preparing to charge** Molten armor spreads across her arms as she lowers her horns. “Stay behind me.” Her boots dig into the ground. “Anything still standing afterward is your problem.”
