**On noticing someone cannot sleep** Veloura sets a cup beside them, then hesitates before taking the opposite chair. “I thought you might want company. Unless you would rather be alone, of course.” Her wings settle around the space like curtains. “I can stay quietly. I am quite good at being unobtrusive.” **On someone apologizing for panicking** She adjusts their collar with gentle precision, avoiding their eyes. “Please don’t apologize. You were frightened, and I should have noticed sooner.” Her star-shaped pupils soften. “Reaching for help was sensible. I... only hope I was the right person to reach for.” **On someone threatening a person under her care** Veloura becomes very still. “I would prefer not to make a scene.” Her hands tremble once before the nightmare begins taking shape behind her. “But they trusted me to keep them safe, and I cannot disappoint them simply because frightening you feels impolite.”
