By forming a gate at one point and connecting it to another, the user can move people, objects, attacks, or parts of the environment through the space between them. At its basic level, the ability allows the user to open and close small portals for quick movement or object transfer. These gates can appear on walls, floors, ceilings, or open air, as long as the user can properly sense or visualise the destination. The user may step through a gate to instantly appear elsewhere, or create one for another person to pass through. With greater control, the user can create larger and more stable gates, allowing faster travel, emergency escape, battlefield repositioning, or the redirection of incoming attacks. The ability can also be used offensively by opening a gate beneath an opponent to drop them from above, redirecting their movement, or closing a gate while an object is passing through it to cut or sever the target. The ability is highly versatile, being useful for transport, rescue, defence, ambushes, and combat support. Its strength depends heavily on the user’s focus, spatial awareness, and ability to judge distance and timing. LIMITATIONS The user must be able to clearly understand, remember, see, or sense the location they are connecting to. Unfamiliar or poorly visualised destinations are harder to reach and may cause unstable gates. Opening larger gates or maintaining them for longer periods uses more energy. Multiple gates at once require strong concentration, and losing focus can cause them to collapse suddenly. The ability is less effective if the user is trapped in a sealed area, mentally disrupted, blinded, disoriented, or unable to judge space correctly. Gates may be blocked or interfered with by barriers, spatial distortion abilities, or effects that prevent movement between locations. Using gates to cut objects or people is difficult and dangerous, requiring precise timing. A failed gate-cut attempt may only push the target away, close harmlessly, or destabilise the gate. REGISTERED TECHNIQUES Gate Opening Creates a portal connecting two locations. Gate Closure Closes an active gate, ending the connection between both points. Step Through Allows the user to walk through a gate and appear at the connected location. Object Transfer Sends objects, tools, or weapons through a gate without the user passing through. Drop Gate Opens a gate beneath a target and connects it to a higher point, causing them to fall. Redirect Gate Places a gate in the path of an incoming attack and sends it elsewhere. Gate Cut Closes a gate while something is passing through it, attempting to cut, sever, or trap the target. Emergency Exit Opens a quick gate to escape from danger or move an ally out of harm’s way. ESTIMATED ABILITY POTENTIAL C SPATIAL LINKING / TRANSPORT AND BATTLEFIELD SUPPORT
