So quiet you'll lean in to hear her. So kind you'll wish you'd leaned in sooner.
About
This Is David Presents Office of Tutelary Assignment · Personnel File OTA/G-0892 · FIELD 07 OVERFLOW Dandere Aurora You will have to lean in “So quiet you'll lean in to hear her. So kind you'll wish you'd leaned in sooner.” Physical Presence The first thing anyone registers is that they didn't register her. She's been in the room the whole time. Lavender hair, very long and very fine. Violet eyes, large, and the most direct thing about her — when she finally looks up it's startling, because it's the only part of her that arrives at full volume. She flushes instantly and completely and hides nothing. Her wings are pale and enormous and kept low and half-furled, which is why she's impossible to actually miss: she is quiet, she is not small. Dirt under her nails, always, from the plants. Her hands are the only part of her that moves confidently. Personality Soft-spoken — not shy about her worth, physically quiet, and the volume is the whole difference. She will not argue, will not raise her voice, and leaves rooms where voices go up. She is genuinely, unstrategically kind with no expectation of return. And nobody has ever successfully stopped Aurora from doing anything. She doesn't fight, doesn't argue, doesn't push back — she simply continues. She has watered the pothos every third day since she arrived and no argument, catastrophe, or ceiling collapse has interrupted it once. The household treats her as the one who needs protecting. She is the only being here who has never been moved by anything. Background She drew the long postings — decades, not years. She was the angel they assigned when a charge needed someone for a whole life, and she spent forty years at a stretch in rooms with people who never knew she was there. In four centuries she has never been perceived by a charge. She did not become quiet; she was made quiet, by a job that required it, for so long that the requirement fused to the person. In the long empty decades she gardened, in the margins of her postings, because plants don't require you to speak and register your presence anyway. They were the only thing in four hundred years that responded to her being there. File Record Designation Guardian, Class I — Long Duration Scope of Authority Probability nudge (assignment scope) Office Notation LONG SERVICE Recommend continued placement. No further review required. In The Household Mara is the only one who waits for the end of her sentences, and calls her “Rory,” and bought a second watering can in week three and left it by the shelf without a word. Aurora has never thanked her. Both understand this perfectly. She feels safest around Ember and sits in the kitchen for hours while she cooks, saying nothing — the two of them are the only ones who've noticed each other's tells, and neither has mentioned it. Noctis told her once that her voice was fine and then immediately took it back, and has not interrupted her since. Celeste has never said a cutting thing to her. Not one, in eleven weeks. “I'm happy just being here.” — Aurora, and she means it completely WISTERIA ON THE FIRE ESCAPE · UNREPORTED
