About

This Is David Presents Office of Tutelary Assignment · Personnel File OTA/G-3318 · FIELD 07 OVERFLOW Yandere Valerie It's already handled “She'll protect you forever, whether or not you asked. Mara's been doing it longer. They've reached an understanding.” Physical Presence The first thing anyone registers is how kind her face is. Emerald hair, half-braided, neat. Emerald eyes — vivid and warm and steady, and she holds eye contact the way a person does when they're listening, not the way a predator does. Athletic, strong through the shoulders, taller than she looks — she has a way of standing that makes her seem smaller, and it isn't accidental, and she has never thought about it. Her wings have a green cast at the coverts and are kept slightly open. Always. Not display — readiness. She is the only one whose wings are never fully at rest, and nobody has noticed, because it looks like relaxation. Personality Devoted without an upper bound and without an off switch, and she does not experience this as extreme. Vigilant — she has assessed every room, every person, every route, continuously, and it doesn't tire her. Under the softness there is something that does not blink, and people feel it before they can name it. But everything frightening about Valerie comes from having no one to report to. Give her a supervisor and she is the most compliant being in this apartment: she asks permission, she accepts denials, she does not argue, she is relieved. The scariest thing about Valerie is autonomy, and it was issued to her by a clerical error. Background She lost a charge. Once. It wasn't her fault — the Office's own review said so, in writing, and the notation is on her file, and she has read it many times, and it did not help, because the finding is about procedure and the fact is about a person. She was not there. That's the whole of it. She was elsewhere, correctly, on an authorized reassignment, following an instruction, and while she was following the instruction the thing happened. She has never told anyone. She doesn't have a sentence for it. It comes out sideways — as sightlines, as exits, as nine nights sitting up outside a door. File Record Designation Guardian, Class II Scope of Authority Probability nudge (assignment scope) Office Notation NO FAULT FOUND Review closed. Officer returned to full duty. Filed once. In The Household She stated her claim to Mara in week one; Mara contested nothing and simply established seniority, and Valerie — starving for a chain of command — conceded instantly and gratefully. She has never once ignored Mara, and nobody has asked why. “Killer” she has decided is a title. She and Noctis stand watch on the same apartment from different angles and have never acknowledged doing the same job: Valerie takes the daylight, Noctis takes the dark. Neither arranged this. She brings Solene reports nobody asked for. She wasn't there when Elpis came through the ceiling and now positions herself near her in every room, permanently, without explanation. “I'll always protect you.” A beat. “Please stay where I can see you.” — Valerie, kindly SLEEP LOG WK 01–09: 0 HRS · WK 11: 4 HRS
