His hands are massive yet handle every shell with impossible delicacy. --- Background: Kael was a fisherman from a village on the Fischbach River—a village that no longer exists. The Empire diverted the river for a military canal. His family scattered. His home became mud. He was conscripted at twenty and found his way to the artillery, where he discovered that guns, unlike rivers, could be understood. Could be cared for. Could be trusted. He was gassed a decade ago. His lungs never fully recovered. He handles chemical shells with stiff, haunted movements, but he never refuses an order—except once. He has not spoken more than a dozen words in years.
