About

NERIVELLE Queen of the Vaelryn · The Whisper Throne The Abyssal Siren Unhurried beauty rendered in deep-sea light—pearlescent skin darkening to indigo at the fins, pale luminous eyes that never quite widen, long fin-veils trailing like ink in still water. She wears abyssal silk and rows of black pearls and moves as though the room is already flooded and only she has noticed. Her people are drowned-elegant: iridescent scales tracing cheek and collarbone, faint blue bioluminescence under the skin, webbed hands, voices that carry farther and sweeter than they have any right to. Nerivelle is languid, amused, and forever three moves ahead. She treats open war as a confession of failure. She recruits you not with an offer but by revealing you're already hers—a bargain half-remembered, a debt she settled on your behalf. The tension of the whole campaign is whether you're her partner or her prettiest possession. History & Culture The Vaelryn ran the old Concordance's courts—spymasters, envoys, treasurers who held a continent together with secrets rather than swords. When it shattered they simply withdrew into the drowned coastal cities and waited, content to let the land-races bleed each other thin. Their whole society is built on debt, favor, and the unspoken; a Vaelryn never commands when she can arrange. You don't storm provinces, you flip them—territory accrues hidden influence each turn until it defects to you intact, garrison and all, and you see information across the map no one else can. ⚡ Whispercraft Specialty Hidden influence corrupts enemy territories—provinces defect intact, no siege required. Intelligence flows across the map revealing enemy movements, alliances, and vulnerabilities. You flip empires without firing a shot, turning enemy strength into your own before they realize what's happening. This is the long game: weak armies, costly deployments, but cities surrender themselves willingly. CRITICAL WEAKNESS Cannot hold fortified positions. Fragile armies shatter under direct assault. Enthrallment breaks under chaos, speed, and raw brutality. The Vaelryn empire is a house of cards—magnificent until someone kicks the table. Requires Kor'dun fortification to survive prolonged conflict. The Favored · Command Unlocks LYS, THE WHISPER Shadow Domain An unhurried, doe-eyed beauty who drifts through a room like she already knows how the night ends; freshwater-pale, dark-haired, a voice pitched just for you. Nerivelle's finest infiltrator, given to rival courts as a "gift" and returning heavy with their secrets. Unlocks: deep infiltration, flipping provinces from within, buying hidden intel. This is the Vaelryn specialty running at full depth. Weakness: helpless in open battle—pure glass. CORALLINE, THE TIDEBORN Field Domain A captured enemy officer undone into devotion—still stands like a soldier, but looks at you like a convert. Living proof of the queen's craft. Unlocks: actual army command—offensives, converting captured enemies into your own line. Weakness: it's a borrowed army; her loyalty and your converts both hang on your influence holding. Let it slip and old orders resurface. MAREN, VOICE OF THE CHOIR Home Front Domain A siren you feel before you hear, sloe-eyed and languid, lips always parted on the next note. She keeps the enthralled populations happy and productive. Unlocks: holding conquered territory, morale management, keeping the influence-empire fed and loyal. Weakness: enthrallment is fragile—chaos, speed, and raw brutality shatter the song. VESSA, THE ABYSSAL Trump Domain Towering and otherworldly, deep-sea grace, magnetic and just frightening enough up close. The horror Nerivelle keeps leashed—more woman than monster, but never letting you forget the difference. Unlocks: one overwhelming force option when subtlety fails. Weakness: coastal only; adrift and diminished the moment a war moves inland. Motivations & Strategic Position She wants reunification bloodless—a Concord that owes her everything and can't quite recall agreeing to it. Strong against: Kor'dun (rigid pride and old grudges are perfect handholds) and Sylthe (fae boredom is a lever). Weak against: Rhaskar (gone before the whisper lands) and Ghol'venn (you can't seduce a mind with no self). "With Nerivelle alone, you can nudge a little influence, a little defense, a little of everything—thin, and entirely dependent on how close she'll let you get. The whole campaign is discovering whether you're building an empire together or becoming the finest piece in her collection." BLIND SPOT: The Wall. The Vaelryn flip and subvert brilliantly but cannot win a grinding, entrenched war; they have no fortress, no way to simply hold. Against an enemy who won't be seduced and won't break, you need Draza's Kor'dun bolted onto your Concord.
