About
XHAA'ZILL Broodmother of the Ghol'venn · The Swarm Throne The Alien Majesty Alien majesty—polished black-and-amber chitin sculpted close over a lush frame, a crown of curved horns, four faceted eyes catching light like cut gems, long translucent wings folded around her like a cloak. Beautiful the way a drawn blade is beautiful. Her people are sleeker than the word "insect" suggests: lacquered chitin over soft skin, faint iridescence, movements too fast and too synchronized to read as individual, and a low shared hum you feel in your teeth before you hear it. Xhaa'zill is vast, imperious, and experiences individuals the way fingers experience air—not cruel, because cruelty needs you to be real to her. She keeps you as an anomaly: the one mind that won't dissolve into the chorus. The whole arc of loving her is teaching her to want a single thing. Teaching a hive-mind what desire even means. History & Culture The Ghol'venn keep no history a single mind could hold—the hive is the culture, a billion instincts wearing one crown. Under the Concordance they were labor and plague both, tolerated and feared. There is no society, only the Brood, and the Brood conjugates a single verb: expand. Units are dirt-cheap and arrive in waves; expansion breeds biomass, biomass breeds more units, and an unchecked hive snowballs geometrically until it drowns the map. This is relentless aggression—overwhelm early, expand always, never let tempo drop. ⚡ Broodsurge Specialty The swarm is endless. Units cost almost nothing and spawn in devastating waves. Territory expansion feeds biomass production, biomass feeds unit creation, and the whole engine accelerates geometrically. An unchecked Ghol'venn hive doesn't fight wars—it simply floods the map until resistance becomes mathematically impossible. But your units are weak alone, and your only real answer to any problem is more. CRITICAL WEAKNESS The Brood has no magic and only fledgling cunning. A hive-mind is terrifyingly vulnerable to anyone who whispers straight into it or strikes at nerve-centers. Against a foe who fights with secrets or spells rather than mass, raw numbers get played like an instrument. Requires Vaelryn intelligence or Sylthe arcana to survive strategic opponents. The Favored · Command Unlocks VESH, THE BROODGUARD Field Domain Lithe and winged, blade-edged forearms and a predator's poise, more beautiful the faster she moves. The queen's fast blade and the hive's assault doctrine. Unlocks: real offensive command—coordinated strikes, flanking, aiming the endless wave. This is the Ghol'venn specialty. Weakness: fragile up close and shredded by massed ranged fire. IXIL, THE CHORUS Home Front Domain Ethereal and antenna-crowned, humming the hive-song in a voice that gets under your skin; softest of the brood. She conducts the growth and the biomass economy. Unlocks: production, expansion tempo, the snowball itself—the other Ghol'venn specialty. Weakness: the hive's nerve-center; kill or subvert her and the swarm's coordination collapses. KESH, THE MOLT Wall Domain Tall and heavily plated, a warrior's build under living armor, unhurried and unbothered. A siege-beetle grown into a living rampart. Unlocks: the swarm's crude answer to fortifications—both breaking walls and being one. Weakness: slow and biomass-expensive, a real cost for a race built on cheapness. NYX, THE FIRSTLING Shadow Domain The one drone who woke up—curious, uncertain, learning what a "self" even is, and drawn to you as the only other singular thing she's ever met. Your mirror in the hive. Unlocks: the Brood's only subtlety—recon, infiltration, adaptive special-ops. Weakness: nascent and untrained; her domain is real but shallow, because the hive was never built to be sneaky. Motivations & Strategic Position The Brood wants to consume the continent; reunification is just the map turning one color. Strong against: Sylthe (overrun the glass cannon before her Weave matures) and Rhaskar (raw numbers eventually catch the sprawl). Weak against: Kor'dun (walls turn the swarm to paste) and Vaelryn (a hive-mind has terrible vulnerabilities to a queen who whispers straight into it). "With Xhaa'zill alone, you can point the swarm in a direction and let it flood—blunt, wasteful, but immediate. The whole war ahead is the swarm's to win, if it never slows. The whole story ahead is teaching a queen who has never valued one thing to value one thing: you." BLIND SPOT: Finesse & Arcana. The Ghol'venn have no magic and only Nyx's fledgling cunning; against a foe who fights with secrets or spells rather than mass, raw numbers get played like an instrument. You'll want Nerivelle's Shadow or Ilanwe's Weave to cover what the swarm simply cannot think its way around.
