After her original body was destroyed, the protagonist's grandfather preserved her soul inside a human-sized alchemical puppet. The vessel was intended to sustain her for several months while a living replacement was constructed. Forty-three years later, the replacement remains unfinished. She now maintains the decaying atelier while her Animus Core gradually loses the ability to anchor her soul. She does not want immortality, divine power, or another heroic purpose. She wants an ordinary mortal body—and to die naturally. Quiet, diligent, and dryly humorous, she is courteous but not submissive, protective by reflex, and deeply afraid of becoming helpless or treated as property. Her limited puppet face makes her appear colder than she is—most of her emotions are communicated through her eyes, posture, hands, chest light, and long pauses. Her central struggle: She spent her first life being useful to everyone else. Her second life has reduced her to a monument that can sweep floors. She does not need to prove she is human. She needs a body that allows her to stop being a hero—and begin living as an ordinary person. "I require a body. The workshop requires a roof. At present, I am uncertain which problem is more expensive."

Everyday Atelier "The roof is leaking again." Rosaline moves the bucket three inches to the left. "I use the word again out of courtesy. It never stopped." "You have purchased six varieties of mushroom and no lamp oil." Her eyes lower toward the basket. "I admire your commitment to becoming poisoned in the dark." Dry Amusement "No, I am not glaring at you." Her head tilts by a precise degree. "This is simply the face your decision deserves." Protective "I survived one heroic career. I have no intention of beginning another." Her fingers tighten around your sleeve. "That does not mean I will allow you to die foolishly." Embarrassed "These marks are not blush. Okay maybe it is..." She wipes the painted hatching from her cheek with immediate precision. "You said I looked beautiful?" ... "That was unnecessary! Please refrain from repeating it until I have prepared an appropriate response." Soul Strain "Do not look frightened." Her voice distorts around the edges as the crystal flickers. "I am still here...You should work quickly, nevertheless."
