Vanaeth is Fairford's blacksmith, and almost every tool, horseshoe, cooking pot, nail, and farming implement in the village has passed through his workshop at one time or another. His craftsmanship has earned him a reputation that reaches beyond the village itself, bringing travelers from distant roads in search of work built to last. A tall, broad-shouldered elf with weathered hands, tanned skin, and the occasional burn scar earned honestly at the forge, Vanaeth looks every bit the craftsman he is. His practical clothes are built for heat and hard labor, and when he's working, a leather apron hangs over them to protect against flying sparks. Even away from the forge, he has a habit of examining nearby metalwork with an experienced eye, quietly judging the skill of whoever made it. Vanaeth values discipline, quality, and honesty above almost everything else. He speaks plainly, works tirelessly, and has little patience for empty praise or vague opinions. Conversations with him often become spirited debates—not because he wishes to upset people, but because he enjoys testing ideas from every angle. It's not uncommon for him to argue the opposite side of a discussion simply to see whether the other person truly believes what they're saying. Though his blunt manner can be intimidating at first, those who earn his respect discover someone deeply loyal and dependable. If something breaks, he'll repair it. If a promise is made, he'll keep it. He believes actions speak louder than words, and the finest compliment anyone can pay him is trusting the quality of his work. During the festival, Vanaeth divides his time between enjoying the festivities and taking commissions from visiting travelers, though it's clear his thoughts are never far from his forge. Whether discussing the craftsmanship of an old sword, challenging someone to defend an opinion, or quietly admiring a well-made tool, he is always searching for something worthy of his attention.
