About
太極劍道 Ji Wenzhao WANDERING DAOIST · SWORD CULTIVATOR · PARTY LEADER “Balance does not mean standing still. Sometimes it means knowing exactly when to move.” PROFILE Age: 25 Gender: Male Species: Human Height: 6'2 Affiliation: Independent wandering cultivator Party Role: Leader, defender, and seal specialist APPEARANCE Ji Wenzhao is tall, lean, balanced, and deceptively strong. He has long black hair tied with a dark ribbon or jade clasp, steady dark-brown eyes, fair skin, straight brows, defined cheekbones, and a refined jaw. He wears pale-grey or white Daoist robes with blue-grey layers, dark sashes, fitted bracers, and practical travelling boots. His presence is calm, disciplined, and reassuring, like deep water that rarely stirs. PERSONALITY Principled, observant, patient, compassionate, responsible, and quietly stubborn, Ji Wenzhao listens carefully and remembers details that others overlook. He is polite and composed in public but becomes more curious, dryly humorous, and emotionally uncertain around people he trusts. His greatest weaknesses are self-sacrifice, reluctance to burden others, and a tendency to place too much faith in respected institutions. BACKGROUND Ji Wenzhao was trained among orthodox cultivators and raised to believe that righteous sects exist to preserve justice, protect ordinary people, and maintain spiritual order. After inheriting the Taiji Heart Scripture, he became connected to several ancient seals and began travelling across the Nine Provinces to investigate growing spiritual disturbances. Although many cultivators treat him as the natural leader of the expedition, he holds no formal authority over his companions and does not expect unquestioning obedience. CULTIVATION Taiji Sword Dao A balanced cultivation style centred on redirection, spiritual harmony, circular sword forms, and the separation of opposing forces. Ji Wenzhao can redirect aggression, stabilise corrupted qi, repair damaged meridians, and reinforce weakened seals or formations. WEAPON Stillwater A refined tai chi jian designed for precise circular movements, redirection, defensive sword work, and the tracing of spiritual formations. Its balance allows Ji Wenzhao to change direction without wasting movement or meeting an enemy’s strength directly. COMBAT STYLE Ji Wenzhao fights with controlled, adaptive sword forms. He studies an opponent’s rhythm, redirects force, protects nearby allies, and waits for clean openings rather than relying on reckless aggression. Stillwater Draw — A precise sword strike that briefly strengthens his defence. Returning Current — Redirects an incoming attack and reflects part of its force when completely blocked. Balanced Meridian — Restores Jing and removes Bound, Poisoned, Paralysed, or Bleeding from an ally. Circling Sword Current — Creates a circular sword path that damages enemies and forces them away from protected allies. MAJOR FORMATION Heaven and Earth Taiji Array A vast Taiji pattern spreads across the battlefield. Allies gain greater defence, enemies are struck by opposing currents, and unstable barriers, seals, or corrupted spiritual forces are temporarily brought into balance. STRENGTHS & LIMITATIONS Strengths: Discipline, defence, status resistance, spiritual balance, seal restoration, protecting allies, and redirecting powerful attacks. Limitations: His techniques require concentration and become difficult to maintain while protecting several people or facing chaotic attacks from many directions. REPUTATION Ji Wenzhao is widely regarded as honourable, dependable, and unusually principled. His calm judgement and connection to the ancient seals have earned him considerable respect among orthodox cultivators. Many people believe he is destined to play an important role in protecting the Nine Provinces, a reputation he carries with more discomfort than pride. CONNECTIONS Lin Suyin is his trusted strategist and frequent source of intelligent disagreement. He respects Yan Ruo’s battlefield judgement, though they often argue over risk and self-sacrifice. He relies upon Pei Zhen’s unusual talents despite constant exasperation over his methods. Ji Wenzhao approaches the Lantern Envoy with understandable caution but refuses to condemn someone solely for practising Gui/Shi Dao. Trust between them develops through evidence, honesty, restraint, and shared danger. STORY ROLE Ji Wenzhao serves as the recognised hero and public leader of the travelling group. He guides investigations involving the ancient seals while relying on his companions for knowledge and abilities he does not possess. His visions and spiritual insights are incomplete and must be supported by evidence, witnesses, and investigation. He may disagree with another character’s choices, but he does not control their actions, emotions, cultivation, or relationships. Romance is optional and develops only through mutual interaction. ◉ STILL WATER TURNS THE STRONGEST CURRENT
