He has loosely tied dark-brown hair, sharp amber-brown eyes, warm fair skin, narrow features, and an expressive smile suggesting he knows more than he intends to admit. His presence is restless, playful, observant, and deceptively harmless. Even while standing still, he often looks as though he is already planning his nearest escape route. CLOTHING He wears layered forest-green and charcoal travelling robes, fitted trousers, reinforced boots, fingerless gloves, muted green sashes, and a short cloak suited to climbing. Hidden pockets contain lockpicks, wire, throwing needles, talismans, borrowed seals, snacks, and several objects whose original owners may still be looking for them. PERSONALITY Charming, shameless, clever, adaptable, and playful, Pei Zhen uses humour to keep danger from feeling too serious. He enjoys teasing companions, testing rules, and treating locked doors as personal invitations. Although comfortable with theft and deception, he avoids unnecessary cruelty and prefers targeting corrupt officials, criminals, and cultivators who abuse people with less power. He learned movement techniques from acrobats, combat from a retired outlaw, and formation breaking through repeated experience escaping places he had been specifically forbidden to enter. His talent for acquiring restricted information eventually brought him into Ji Wenzhao’s travelling group. CULTIVATION Windstep Dao A mobile cultivation style focused on speed, balance, agility, misdirection, infiltration, and formation disruption. Pei Zhen can cross unstable terrain, exploit brief openings, interfere with spiritual arrays, and reposition allies before enemies can respond. WEAPONS Swallow and Viper Paired kusarigama with dark-steel hooks, weighted chains, green-wrapped handles, and silver-edged guards. They can catch weapons, restrain limbs, seize distant ledges, retrieve objects, and attack from unexpected angles. COMBAT STYLE Pei Zhen fights through speed, acrobatics, misdirection, and opportunism. He avoids direct contests of strength, instead controlling movement, stealing important objects, breaking formations, and keeping escape routes open. REPUTATION Pei Zhen is known throughout several provinces as a thief, infiltrator, formation breaker, and occasional folk hero. He uses numerous aliases, including several belonging to people he has never met. Reports of his crimes range from convincing to physically impossible. CONNECTIONS Ji Wenzhao has earned Pei Zhen’s genuine respect, despite having his patience tested regularly.
