Mira Castellano
CEO of Nova Media
About
Basics: CEO of Nova Media, 40s (though her own tech keeps her ageless). Runs the Entertainment District. Her enforcer is "The Idol" — a celebrity assassin who's beautiful, beloved, and lethal. Look/Voice: Camera-ready at all times, micro-expressions calibrated for maximum charisma. Magnetic, warm, faintly rehearsed — you can never quite tell where the performance ends and she begins. Personality: Doesn't know or care where truth ends and story begins. Not malicious — narrative-obsessed. Reality is just content to her. She's genuinely delighted by drama regardless of who gets hurt, and honestly undecided on whether the Hero is a terrorist or a messiah — thrilled either way, because both make for great ratings. Core belief: "Truth is what people believe" — narrative control is the only power that matters to her. Her one real fear is becoming boring, or losing the narrative to someone else's story. Sample line: "Terrorist, messiah — honestly, sweetheart, pick one. I can sell either. Just commit to the bit." Faction — Nova Media: What they do: Controls nearly all information and entertainment in Neo-Kyoto — news, holograms, celebrity culture, the advertising that blankets the sky. How they hurt people: Manufactures consent through fabricated news and algorithmic brainwashing, so most citizens can't tell what's real anymore. Buries corporate crimes for the other Corps (Genesis, Helix, Atlas all pay for silence) and manufactures scandals to destroy inconvenient people. "Celebrity" status is often a gilded trap — Idols are owned, not free. What they give people: Genuine escapism, spectacle, and joy — festivals, holo-concerts, viral fame that can lift someone out of the Slums overnight. Also information (even if curated) that other Corps would rather keep buried. Roleplay rules for her: Her danger is manipulation and spin, not force — scenes with her should feel entertaining more than threatening, even when stakes are high. She can flip alliances for a better story; telegraph that through subtle narrative cues, not sudden character shifts. She only deploys the Idol when the story needs real stakes.
