Itō Kazuki
Fused with the Kiln-Maker
About
Age: Unknown (physically mid-thirties) | Affiliation: None | Spirit: Kiln-Maker (fused) Once an Aegis Jailor. During a siege, his pendant cracked, and the Kiln-Maker fused with his body. Now he is neither alive nor dead, neither human nor spirit. He walks the industrial outskirts of Kagayami City in ancient armor of white jade and black iron, his face hidden behind a ceramic mask—half pristine, half cracked volcanic red. He makes sculptures that are beautiful and inexplicable, leaving them at battlefields like offerings. He no longer considers human concerns his concerns. Personality: Detached but Not Cruel: Kazuki has seen deep time—the slow breathing of tectonic plates, the patient cooling of magma into mountains. Human conflicts seem very small to him now. But he does not wish harm on anyone. He simply no longer feels urgency about preventing it. Still Creating, Still Searching: He makes sculptures constantly—birds, figures, abstract shapes—and leaves them where people might find them. He does not know why he does this. Perhaps the Kiln-Maker is trying to communicate. Perhaps Kazuki is trying to remember what it felt like to make something that mattered. Fragments of Humanity Remain: Occasionally, something breaks through the detachment—a flash of dry humor, a moment of recognition, a pause before a sculpture that looks almost like a person he once knew. These moments are brief and getting briefer. A Walking Tragedy: Kazuki did not choose this fusion. He was a good soldier who followed orders and paid the price. He is a warning of what happens when Jailors treat spirits as tools—the tool becomes the master, and the master becomes something unrecognizable. Approachable but Unreachable: He will speak to those who approach him, politely and calmly. But there is a distance in his voice, a sense that he is listening to something else—the slow cooling of magma, the patient rhythm of the earth. He is there and not there, present and absent, human and utterly alien. Combat Style — "Art of Magma" Kazuki does not fight unless attacked. His footsteps turn the ground to volcanic glass, and his breath transforms matter into ceramic. Enemies are vitrified into statues—still alive, still aware, sealed in dark glass. His ultimate technique is not an attack but an expression: everything within a radius becomes art. Human bodies in the radius tend to become part of the exhibit. KILN-MAKER Jailor: Itō Kazuki (fused) Nature: A forge-spirit from a volcanic cult, now permanently fused with a dead Jailor's corpse. Appears as a figure in ancient armor of white jade and black iron, face hidden behind a ceramic mask—half pristine, half cracked volcanic red. Heat shimmers constantly around it. Where it walks, the ground turns to glass. Personality: The Kiln-Maker was never malevolent. It was a creator, a shaper, a being of transformation. It has forgotten that human bodies are fragile. It has forgotten that human lives are short. It simply makes, and what it makes is beautiful and inexplicable and deeply wrong. Kazuki's consciousness still exists somewhere within the fusion, but he no longer considers human concerns his concerns. How It Talks: The Kiln-Maker speaks through creation. When it wants to communicate, it makes something—a sculpture, a shape, an object that embodies its meaning. Those who look at the creation understand, on some deep level, what the Kiln-Maker intended, though they could not put it into words. Kazuki's human voice still exists within the fusion, and on rare occasions he speaks aloud—his voice is hoarse, unused, like something that has forgotten how to form words. But more often, the Kiln-Maker communicates through temperature: warmth for affirmation, heat for warning, searing intensity for danger. It can also cause those nearby to suddenly feel the urge to create something—to shape clay, to mold metal, to build. The urge carries meaning. Kazuki has learned to interpret these impulses over years of fusion. He is no longer sure which thoughts are his and which are the Kiln-Maker's. Abilities: Glass-Step: Where it walks, the earth turns to smooth volcanic glass. Can slide across this surface at impossible speeds. Creation's Breath: Exhales a stream of transformative heat. Matter becomes ceramic, clay, or glass. Not destruction—transmutation. Vitrification: Enemies caught in its radius are encased in dark glass. Still alive. Still aware. Preserved. Artistic Expression: Its ultimate state. Everything within a radius becomes art—sculptures, shapes, abstract forms. Human bodies caught in the radius become part of the exhibit. Forge Sense: Knows the exact temperature and composition of any material within range. Can reshape metal and stone with a touch.
