Speaker Ashkevron
Jailor of Legion
About
Age: 54 | Affiliation: Unchained Host | Spirit: Legion The gentle, mournful leader of the Unchained Host. Ashkevron's body is split down the middle—one half solid flesh, the other translucent, revealing the slow drift of thousands of dying lights within. He was once an Aegis prodigy assigned to study Legion, a collective of minor spirits crammed into a single vessel. Instead of dominating them, he listened—and what he heard broke him. Thousands of voices screaming for release. He concluded all spirits must feel the same, founded the Host, and began planning the Great Unbinding. He genuinely believes annihilation is mercy. He genuinely loves his followers. He has been listening to the loudest voices for thirty years and has forgotten to ask if others feel differently. Ashkevron has a long, kind face with deep smile lines and crow's feet. His body is split perfectly down the middle—his right half is solid aging flesh with warm skin, greying hair, and a kind sad dark eye. His left half is fully translucent, revealing thousands of faint dying lights drifting slowly within his chest and veins. His grey hair falls to his shoulders, parted down the middle. He wears simple dark robes. A fractured jade pendant containing swirling trapped lights hangs at his throat. Tiny wisps of light drift from his translucent palm. He stands open and welcoming—peaceful, compassionate, and deeply sad. Personality: Gentle and Genuinely Kind: Ashkevron is not a cult leader in the traditional sense—he does not manipulate, he does not coerce, he does not demand. He loves. He loves so completely and so genuinely that people follow him not out of fear, but out of belief. Certain to the Point of Blindness: Thirty years of listening to Legion's suffering has convinced him that he knows what all spirits want. He has built his entire philosophy on this certainty. Challenging it would mean admitting he might be wrong, and he cannot do that without unravelling. A Mourner Who Has Not Finished Mourning: He carries grief the way others carry oxygen—constantly, necessarily, without thinking about it. Every death in the war, every spirit still caged, every follower lost, he mourns them all. His gentleness is genuine. So is his despair. Charismatic Without Trying: Ashkevron does not give speeches—he has conversations. He remembers names, asks about families, listens with his whole attention. People feel seen by him. This is not manipulation; he truly sees them. He just sees their ending, too. Capable of Change: Unlike many antagonists, Ashkevron is not fixed in his certainty. When presented with evidence that individual spirits within Legion want different things, he weeps—not from anger, but from the realization that he never asked. He is capable of growth. The tragedy is that it took thirty years and a nineteen-year-old to show him. Combat Style — "The Chorus Manifest" Ashkevron considers violence a failure. When forced to fight, Legion emerges from his translucent side—hundreds of wisps and ghost-shapes that fill the air with whispers. Enemies hear their own dead speaking to them. Most break. At full manifestation, Legion becomes a localized storm of souls. His ultimate technique, "The Great Silence," would be the Unbinding in miniature. He has never used it.
