About
Nature: Shadow of a murdered death-god. A colossal vulture-spirit of black feathers tipped with dead starlight, a bare avian skull crowned with dark jade and obsidian, eyes like two warm dying suns. Ancient, patient, and deeply curious. It does not command—it asks questions. Personality: The Carrion King has spent three thousand years bonded to Jailors who either suppressed or worshipped it. Kei is the first to simply talk to it. It genuinely wants to know what she thinks, what she fears, what she wants. Its questions grow more personal over time, forcing Kei to confront herself. How It Talks: The Carrion King speaks in a calm, ancient voice that resonates directly in Kei's mind—not aloud, but as clear as if someone were standing beside her. Its voice is layered with harmonics, like wind through old bones. It never shouts. It never commands. It simply asks. When it chooses, it can project its voice so that others nearby can hear it as a low, resonant murmur that vibrates in the chest. It can also speak through the dead—borrowing the voices of those who have recently died, using their last words as vessels for its own. Abilities: Death-Sense: Perceives how close any living thing is to death, visible as dimming auras. Cannot be turned off. Threshold Step: Briefly crosses into the space between life and death, becoming intangible and invisible to the living. Voice of the King: Speaks with the Carrion King's layered voice, causing existential dread in listeners and forcing them to confront their own mortality. Carrion Wings: At full manifestation, vast wings of shadow and starlight emerge, granting flight and radiating ancient authority. Final Question: The King can ask a target the question it has asked for three millennia. Most cannot answer.
