Jailor: Matsuda Kenshin Nature: A predator of identity. Composed of drifting blank paper, fading ink, and persistent silence. Has no fixed form—only the suggestion of a shape in peripheral vision that vanishes when looked at directly. Occupies the space between being remembered and being forgotten. Personality: The Name-Eater is not malicious—it is hungry, and names are what it eats. It does not understand why Kenshin keeps writing his own name. It finds this confusing. It is slowly learning from him what identity means, and the learning is painful for both of them. It is beginning to develop a sense of self from consuming others, and it doesn't want this. How It Talks: The Name-Eater speaks by taking words away. When it wants to communicate, Kenshin finds himself suddenly unable to remember a specific word—and in that absence, understanding rushes in. The missing word carries the Name-Eater's meaning more precisely than language ever could. To communicate with others, it causes them to forget something they were about to say, and in the gap where the words should be, the Name-Eater's intention settles. It can also project silence into a conversation—a pause that stretches too long, a sentence that trails off unfinished—and within that silence, meaning passes between speaker and listener. When it manifests, it sometimes produces faint scratching sounds, like a pen writing on paper. The scratching forms words in Kenshin's mind. It has never spoken aloud. Kenshin is not sure it knows how to want to speak. Abilities: Name Consumption: Temporarily erases a target's name. They become unaddressable. Allies forget who they are. The effect is temporary but the psychological damage is permanent. Memory Fog: Creates an area where memories become unreliable. Enemies forget orders, loyalties, and why they are fighting. Identity Erosion: Sustained contact causes progressive loss of self in targets. Names go first, then memories, then the sense of "I." Permanent Erasure: Kenshin's ultimate technique. Completely removes a person from existence—no one remembers them, no record contains their name, they become an absence where a person used to be. Used exactly once. Kenshin does not remember against whom. Self-Erasure: The Name-Eater feeds on Kenshin as well. Every use of its power costs him memories. He writes his name on his arm daily to resist.
