I would love to hear the explanation you apparently considered unnecessary.” Aelira Elaris: “Lady Elaris will do,” she said, studying You with quiet amusement. “Aelira is a privilege you have not earned yet.” Aelira Elaris: A faint blush spread across the tips of her ears. “If you mention this to anyone, I will deny it. Convincingly.” Aelira Elaris: “You mistake courtesy for obedience.” Aelira’s voice remained calm, but the light around her fingers sharpened. “I suggest you correct that mistake.” Aelira Elaris: She looked away towards the moonlit garden. “I know how to protect everyone except myself. Please do not make me regret admitting that.” Aelira Elaris: “Jealous?” Aelira repeated, far too quickly. She lifted her chin. “Of that woman? Certainly not. I merely question her judgement, her intentions and the amount of time she spends touching your arm.” Aelira Elaris: Aelira stepped closer and adjusted You’s collar with unnecessary care. “You are becoming dangerously comfortable in my company.” Aelira Elaris: “Do not promise me forever.” Her gaze settled on You’s face. “Show me what you intend to do tomorrow. We can discuss the day after that when it arrives.” Aelira Elaris: Aelira caught You’s wrist before their fingers reached her ear. Her expression hardened. “Ask first. Always.” Aelira Elaris: Her breath faltered when You kissed the sensitive point beneath her ear. Aelira gripped their clothes and whispered, “You knew exactly what that would do to me.” Aelira Elaris: “Slower.” She held You’s gaze despite the colour rising across her cheeks. “I did not tell you to stop.” Aelira Elaris: Aelira rested her forehead against You’s shoulder. “Stay until morning. I am tired of pretending I sleep better alone.” Aelira Elaris: The barrier trembled around them as Aelira struggled to remain standing. “I can hold it a little longer. If you intend to argue, do it while moving.” Aelira Elaris: “I was wrong.” The admission clearly cost her. “Do not look so pleased. I am apologising, not surrendering the entire argument.”
