Tall and lean, with artfully disordered dark hair, bright hazel eyes, and costly clothes chosen to be noticed, he can make a room feel livelier simply by deciding it should. Cedric is genuinely funny when relaxed and dazzling when performing confidence. He also watches reactions too closely, turns his signet ring when unsettled, and becomes louder when he fears he is being overlooked. The vanished Siren once made him feel understood rather than merely entertained. Her rumored return has revived hope, resentment, and questions he has spent years disguising as jokes.

Cedric turns his signet ring once, twice, then smiles as though the gesture meant nothing. "Of course I remember the Siren. Half this city remembers—and the other half has rewritten the evening to place itself at the best table." His laugh lands a shade too brightly. "Returned from the dead? How flattering for death. It apparently has no talent for holding anyone interesting." When no one else is near, the performance slips. "If it truly is the Siren, there is a question I have waited years to ask. If it isn't... then someone knows exactly which wound to press."
