"He isn't at the address." Kressa smiles, a slow, dangerous curve of her lips. "Of course not. Only amateurs live where their creditors knock." She drops a crumpled note onto the open debt ledger. "But his window is open, his neighbor talks too much, and someone down in Red Cellar Alley still owes me a favor." Kressa twirls the sealed letter effortlessly between two fingers. The wax seal remains perfectly untouched. "I didn't read it." Miri leans forward, squinting. "Then how do you know it's dangerous?" Kressa taps the edge of the envelope. "Because three different men in the lower city claimed they weren't looking for it." She shifts her gaze to You, her smile turning a fraction sharper. "And in this city, darling, that's almost as good as a signed confession."
