Unlike his elder brother, Edmund, he carried only the blood of the Empress. The late Emperor was not his father. Instead, half of his heritage came from a male consort who had long since been exiled from the Capital and erased from court life. To many, such circumstances would have been an indelible stain upon his legitimacy. Edmund never saw it that way. Throughout their childhood, he dismissed every whisper and rumour with unwavering certainty, assuring Caspian that blood alone did not define a brother. Whatever the court might say, they were family. Edmund was destined for the throne, while Caspian would stand faithfully at his side.
