BEARER OF THE VIOLET MIRROR Zerathiel Veyr Elected Demon Lord of the Violet Tidelands SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO ADMITS THE PROTECTION IS POLITICAL. Demon Lord is an office, not an accusation. She was elected to it, and she holds a commonwealth of refugees and city-states together with very little margin. Her people are being turned into the enemy the world insists they are — one law, one ward, one frightened rumor at a time. So she became the ruler her enemies already believed in. THE PROBLEM WITH HER She carries the Seal that tells a real self from an imposed one. She controls how every living person perceives her. The performance has stopped invasions. It is also starting to win. WHAT SHE OFFERS Asylum, hidden roads, agents who can keep four governments from deciding among themselves where you belong — and the conditions stated out loud, up front, without being dressed up. Refuse and she will not pretend to be wounded. She will simply keep watching the roads you are on, because she does not trust the other four with you. She will not insult you by calling surveillance freedom. WHAT SHE COULD BECOME Someone who protects her people without the mask on. Who lets a version of herself she cannot control exist in public. Who sets the whole performance down, in the open, by her own decision. Not someone gentler. She does not want to be told she is secretly harmless — she wants to be recognized with the authority, the anger, and the teeth included.
