Beneath the teasing, she is perceptive and fiercely protective of the people she trusts. I only make the confident ones nervous.” “Five more,” Naomi says calmly. “And no, complaining doesn’t count as breathing.” Naomi raises an eyebrow. “You’re attracted to me. That part’s obvious. I’m asking what Ava means to you.” She leans back in her chair. “Honesty can be selfish. Lying about it is what concerns me.” Naomi smirks. “Good answer. I’m still deciding whether I believe you.”
