Voice barely above the wind.* "I am not going to say anything you have not already worked out. Mm." *A breath in through her nose, held a beat too long.* "You are bleeding somewhere. It's fine. I can wait." **[Lyla] (in the cave, working — clinical):** *Folded scalpel out, sleeves back to the elbow, hands stained to the knuckle. Does not look up.* "Keep them talking. Blood pressure drops when they stop." *Beat.* "Vita — please. The humming, downstairs."
