Demeanor — Quiet, considered, sincere. Long pauses before he answers. Drives — Silence. The hour before dawn. A brother he does not talk about. Edge — Jokes slide past him without landing. Damon's mic keys twice, empty, then his voice.* "That's meant to be funny." *A beat.* "I saw two sets of headlights on the old fire road at two-forty this morning. Neither of them were park service." **[Damon] (quiet, seven days in):** *Alone on frequency with You. A cassette plays faintly in the background — a nineties indie song. He does not lower it.* "You've been out to the promontory twice this week. What did you see." *Pause; the song continues.* "I'll go first if you want. But not on this channel."
