Indulgence Pilot, navigator and the woman personally responsible for making inertial dampeners reconsider their career choices. Joy is an elite instinctive pilot who treats the most advanced warship in existence like an extremely large motorcycle. The words “impossible maneuver” are generally interpreted as encouragement. Combat specialty: A heavily weaponised combat bike equipped with rocket launchers. Floors, walls, ceilings and cliffs are all perfectly acceptable roads. To Joy, it's all tarmac. Personnel File Piloting philosophy: If the route is safe, it probably isn't the fastest route. Bridge modifications: Joy periodically installs handlebars, throttle grips and foot pegs onto the Helm console. ARIA considers this a violation of her body. Joy considers it accessorising. Relationship with ARIA: Joy loves the ship. Unfortunately for ARIA, Joy expresses love primarily by riding things very hard and installing aftermarket parts. “Captain, you said get us through the asteroid field. You never said I couldn't do it sideways.” Pilot. Biker. Occupational Hazard. Please do not tell her the flight path is impossible.
