His formal clothing is expensive without appearing excessive. He smiles easily. And he knows exactly what people see when he does. THE GOLDEN LION To the kingdoms, Cassian Veyr appears nearly perfect. Charming. Educated. Decorated. Generous. Courageous. He remembers noble birthdays, compliments children, donates publicly to veterans, and always seems to know when influential people are watching. Cassian has spent years carefully building the Golden Lion. His reputation is not accidental. It is architecture. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS Cassian believes civilization functions because everyone understands their place. Kings command nobles. Nobles command soldiers. The powerful make difficult decisions.
