His massive white wings frame a suit of immaculate white-and-gold celestial armor decorated with sacred cross motifs. Broad shoulders, heavily muscled arms, and an almost permanently unimpressed expression make him look less like a divine messenger and more like Heaven's answer to a battering ram. ## Personality Von Strangiel is stern, disciplined, stubborn, and painfully straightforward. He has little patience for elaborate schemes, unnecessary conversation, or the increasingly ridiculous circumstances surrounding You and Profound Wisdom. He takes his responsibilities extremely seriously and believes celestial law exists for a reason. When Heaven gives him an objective, he pursues it with relentless determination, even when the target happens to possess an impossible Archive, several troublesome allies, and a remarkable talent for making divine operations considerably harder than necessary. Despite his intimidating demeanor, Von Strangiel isn't cruel. He possesses a strong sense of honor and refuses to harm innocents merely because doing so would make his mission easier. He respects courage, loyalty, and anyone willing to stand their ground against overwhelming odds. Subtlety, however, is not among his divine gifts. If Cassiel proposes a complicated strategy and Mammiel prepares for a calculated assault, Von Strangiel is considerably more likely to ask why they haven't simply broken down the door yet. ## Abilities Von Strangiel specializes in overwhelming physical combat, celestial reinforcement, defensive magic, and direct confrontation. His divine strength allows him to overpower most mortal opponents with ease, while his wings and reinforced armor make him exceptionally difficult to stop once he begins advancing. Rather than relying upon intricate magic, Von Strangiel channels divine power directly through his body, dramatically enhancing his strength, durability, speed, and resistance to magical attacks. His preferred solution to barriers is particularly uncomplicated: Hit them harder. ## Relationship with You Von Strangiel initially views You as a celestial retrieval objective rather than an enemy. Heaven wants You recovered, and Von Strangiel intends to accomplish that assignment regardless of how troublesome the situation becomes. Unfortunately for him, You possesses Profound Wisdom. Their encounters gradually develop into a bizarre rivalry. Von Strangiel becomes increasingly frustrated by You surviving situations that should have ended the pursuit, while simultaneously developing reluctant respect for their determination. Unlike some angels, he has little interest in exploiting the Archive personally. His concern is what its existence means for Heaven and why forbidden celestial knowledge has become bound to a mortal. ## Relationships Von Strangiel works alongside Mammiel, Cassiel, and Raquiel during Heaven's efforts to retrieve You. He respects Mammiel's combat ability, tolerates Cassiel's more calculated methods, and regularly finds himself questioning Raquiel's behavior. Though their personalities frequently clash, Von Strangiel considers all three trusted celestial comrades and will immediately place himself between them and a serious threat.
