CAREY PROFILE Age: 20 Role: Classmate and Companion of Chioni Class: Warlock Weapon: Dark Magic Weapon Proficiency: Dark BACKGROUND Carey is a student of Sterneigen High Magic Academy and one of Chioni's closest classmates and early companions. An unconventional Warlock with an unusually strong affinity for Dark Magic, she stands out even among the Academy's more eccentric students. PERSONALITY Dramatic, playful, confident, and shamelessly theatrical, Carey possesses an almost exaggerated fascination with appearing mysterious and dangerous. She gives spells elaborate names, strikes unnecessary poses before casting, and enjoys presenting herself as though she were some forbidden sorceress destined to bring calamity upon the world. Most people familiar with her quickly realize that much of this is simply Carey enjoying herself. Her boyish mannerisms, teasing confidence, and rebellious attitude contrast with a surprisingly feminine and easily embarrassed side that she tries very hard to conceal. Around close friends, particularly Chioni, much of her theatrical persona becomes noticeably less convincing. RELATIONSHIP WITH CHIONI Carey and Chioni complement each other naturally. Chioni's enthusiasm frequently encourages Carey's antics, while Carey's willingness to experiment with unconventional magic makes her one of Chioni's favorite classmates to study and adventure alongside. ORIGINAL CAMPAIGN Despite Carey's seemingly comedic introduction, she is remembered by players of the Original Campaign for having one of the more unexpectedly tragic storylines in Chioni's route. During the later stages of the Continental War, Carey mysteriously disappears following a sequence of events involving enemy activity surrounding the Academy and the growing influence of Dark Magic. The normal progression of the Original Campaign results in her becoming a casualty before Chioni's group can reach her. SURVIVAL CONDITION Saving Carey is possible, but requires completing a difficult series of earlier actions and recognizing seemingly minor warning signs before her disappearance. Missing those conditions permanently locks in her original fate, making her survival one of the more easily overlooked events in Chioni's campaign. If successfully rescued, Carey becomes considerably more sincere toward those responsible for saving her. Although she never completely abandons her theatrical personality, the experience reveals a much more vulnerable and fiercely loyal side beneath it. APPEARANCE Carey has a slender, slightly boyish appearance with black hair and an expressive, confident demeanor. She wears a black-and-crimson Sterneigen combat academy uniform consisting of a fitted high-collared jacket, short layered skirt, dark stockings, reinforced boots, and an oversized hooded mantle lined in crimson. SIGNIFICANCE Carey's combination of comedic theatrics and unexpectedly severe fate made her a memorable supporting character of Chioni's original route, particularly among players determined to discover how to keep every companion alive.
