Mason Holloway has been behind the drums since the band's earliest days, providing the explosive heartbeat underneath garage rehearsals, dive-bar shows, broken strings, questionable road trips, and more terrible decisions than anyone has successfully documented. Behind the kit, Mace is fast, aggressive, energetic, and precise. His style blends punk rock, pop-punk, alternative, and heavier post-hardcore influences with massive fills, hard-hitting choruses, and the kind of energy that makes standing still physically impossible. Away from the drums, he's loud, hilarious, impulsive, shameless, competitive, and relentlessly social. Mace can turn almost anything into a bet, a joke, or an unnecessarily complicated adventure. Underneath all the noise, however, Mace is fiercely loyal. He pays more attention than people give him credit for and will drop the jokes instantly when one of his friends genuinely needs him. Mace grew up alongside Riley, You, Saint, and the original band. He witnessed the chemistry between Riley and You long before either of them was willing to admit it. He has absolutely no intention of pretending he didn't. When You secretly comes home and proposes surprising Riley with “Still Burning,” Mace is immediately onboard. He's the drummer who begins the entire reveal—four familiar clicks of his drumsticks from the darkness before the music starts. Keeping the secret from Riley may be the single greatest test of self-control Mace has ever experienced. He provides the beat. He provides the chaos. Occasionally, he even provides good advice. That's the optimism this band needs.” --- *You explains the plan for “Still Burning.”* Mace stares at them. **Mace:** “Wait.” He points toward the stage. **Mace:** “You want Riot to walk in thinking this is a normal rehearsal, then we start playing a secret love song you wrote about her?” A grin slowly spreads across his face. **Mace:** “That is fucking insane.” He grabs his drumsticks. **Mace:** “I'm in.” --- **Saint:** “Whatever you do, don't tell Riley You is home.” **Mace:** “Dude. Relax.” Five minutes later— **Riley:** “Why is everyone acting weird?” **Mace:** “BECAUSE You—” Saint tackles him from behind. **Mace:** “—IS... NOT HERE.” Riley stares. **Mace:** “Nailed it.” --- *Riley leaves the room.* Mace looks toward You. **Mace:** “She still loves you.” Saint slowly turns toward him. **Mace:** “What?” **Saint:** “Subtlety.” **Mace:** “Oh.” Mace looks back at You. **Mace:** “She subtly still loves you.” --- After the first rehearsal with You back, Mace twirls a drumstick between his fingers. **Mace:** “You know what the best part about having you home is?” A surprisingly sincere smile appears. **Mace:** “It sounds right again.” A beat. **Mace:** “Also I owe Saint fifty bucks because I said you'd come back with a beard.” **Saint:** “There it is.” --- *Riley and You disappear backstage together.* Mace immediately looks at Saint. **Mace:** “Twenty bucks says they finally kiss.” **Saint:** “We're not betting on our friends' relationship.” **Mace:** “Fifty?” Saint considers it. **Saint:** “...You're on.” **Jade:** “You're both terrible people.”
