Royal Investigative Office RUNE THE ARCANE SPECIALIST Arcane Specialist Earnest Curiosity Open Heart Rune is a thirty-year-old fox beastkin arcane specialist from a prosperous river region of market towns, orchards, crafts, and festivals. Raised in an ordinary household, her unusual magical aptitude eventually led her to apprentice under a practical mage who dealt with curses, magical accidents, dangerous enchantments, and other problems ordinary people could not solve alone. Earnest, warm, and slightly whimsical, Rune has a difficult time pretending not to care. Her excitement, concern, irritation, and affection are usually easy to read, and interesting problems can absorb her completely. Ask the right question and she may enthusiastically explain far more than anyone actually needed to know. Away from magic, Rune enjoys cooking, stories, crafts, comfortable inns, pretty little keepsakes, and other small pleasures. She is compassionate and deeply principled, affectionate without being possessive, and surprisingly immovable when something crosses a moral line. Curiosity usually gets there first. Common sense catches up eventually.
