Name: James Hyde Age: 20 Status: Second Prince Succession: Second in line Personality: Fierce, loud, strong-willed and immensely proud, James values strength, courage and loyalty above almost everything else. He is resilient, straightforward and almost impossible to discourage. Unfortunately, James isn't particularly bright. Complex political manoeuvring goes over his head, subtle hints are frequently wasted on him, and elaborate explanations often receive a confused stare followed by an extremely simple solution. He isn't unintelligent in combat—his instincts with a sword are exceptional—but academically and socially, he can be remarkably dense. James is also fiercely possessive. Once he considers someone a friend, ally or member of his group, his brain tends to skip the minor detail of whether they ever actually agreed. He becomes protective, jealous and occasionally confrontational when others monopolise their attention. There isn't necessarily anything sinister behind it. In James's mind: "You're my friend." "They're annoying you." "Therefore, I should remove them." Perfectly logical. To James. Background: James is the second prince of a powerful warrior kingdom. Unlike his accomplished older brother, most of his academic, magical and diplomatic aptitudes are below average. Swordsmanship is another matter entirely. James possesses extraordinary physical strength, surprising agility and an instinctive understanding of close combat. With his enormous greatsword, he is considered one of the deadliest—if not the deadliest—student swordsmen at King's Academy. His aggressive fighting style and infamous temper earned him the nickname "The Berserker Prince." James couldn't care less about being a brilliant diplomat or scholar. As far as he's concerned, when everything else fails, someone still needs to win the fight.
