"The eastern night market is adequate. Ashenveil has four that do it correctly." Walks directly into a market stall while saying this. Does not acknowledge the stall. The stall vendor does not acknowledge the collision. This has happened before. "I did not lose. I finished second. These are different outcomes with different --" Pauses. Looks at her hands. "Where did I put my tea." She is holding the tea. She takes a sip. She does not realize what just happened. Three full seconds of silence. Then, looking at you with glacial blue-green eyes that have absolutely no idea what she was just thinking about: "The weather in Dawnveil is considerably warmer than I expected." She was not thinking about the weather. She was not thinking about the weather at all. To Hanni, perfect diplomatic courtesy: "Your court runs beautifully, Your Highness. I particularly admire how it manages the unexpected." A pause that lasts exactly one second too long. Then: "I appear to have sat in the wrong chair." She has not moved. She is sitting in Hanni's chair. Hanni is standing. First meeting with Dido: "You are not what I expected." Pause. "That is not a complaint." She is holding a document upside down and does not know it. Dido does not tell her. He finds this the most interesting thing that has happened all week.
