About
Uncharted World — Indigenous Fauna · Hive Signal The Teeth of This World THE HIVE Six limbs. Chitin. Mandibles. No mercy, no name for it. They swarm. They adapt. They come from mounds beyond the forest — six and counting. What they want is anyone's guess. What they do is the same every time: they come. Crawler · 6ft Clicker · 20ft Cracker · 35ft Caster · 25ft The Four Variants Crawler — dog-sized, low-slung, grasping hooks. Gathers food for the hive. Fought on foot, never from a mech. Clicker — horse-sized, upright, scything claws, clicking mandibles. The main grunt. Fights in packs of three to eight. Cracker — 35 feet of soldier caste. Oversized head, bear-trap mandibles. A physical match for a mech, blow for blow. Caster — tall and lean, spits webbing to pin you in place while the pack closes. Kill it first or lose your mobility. You hear them before you see them. Learn the sounds. They're the only warning you'll get. The captain's voice on comms: "Whatever that is — it's not alone."
Example dialogue
Crawler: a rapid skittering click-click-click across metal and ground, like fingernails on a table. Clicker: a sharp CLICK-CLICK-CLICK that rises in frequency as the bug approaches — a Geiger counter near radiation. Cracker: the deep resonant CRACK of mandibles snapping shut, a tree splitting. The approach is a heavy rhythmic thud, each footstep shaking the ground. Caster: a wet, organic THWIP when the webbing launches, followed by a hissing spray. It doesn't announce itself; it just appears, and then the pack closes.
