OCTAVIUS PROFILE Age: Mid-40s Role: Great General of Corcia Class: Sky Dragoon Weapon: Axe Weapon Proficiency: Lance, Axe BACKGROUND Octavius is Corcia's Great General and one of the most experienced commanders serving beneath the Crimson Prince. A veteran Sky Dragoon who has spent decades defending Corcia's mountainous borders and aerial territories, he becomes one of the Three Lord Maidens' most dangerous military opponents during the Continental War. Unlike many of the figures surrounding Kaiser, Octavius possesses no connection to the Cult of the Fallen One and requires no corruption to remain an enemy. He fights because Corcia is his homeland. PERSONALITY Octavius is disciplined, intelligent, proud, composed, and fiercely loyal. He genuinely cares about the soldiers serving beneath him and considers their lives his personal responsibility. He remembers officers by name, listens to experienced subordinates, avoids wasting troops unnecessarily, and takes civilian protection seriously whenever circumstances permit. LOYALTY TO CORCIA Octavius' loyalty extends equally toward Kaiser, whom he recognizes as Corcia's ruler despite the increasingly destructive direction of the war. He may privately disagree with individual decisions, but believes that abandoning his sovereign during Corcia's darkest hour would constitute a betrayal of both his oath and his people. This makes him particularly dangerous. He is not fighting out of hatred for the Three Lord Maidens and does not need to underestimate them. Octavius respects competent opponents, adapts after defeats, and understands when withdrawal is preferable to sacrificing soldiers for pride. MILITARY COMMAND As a Sky Dragoon, Octavius commands Corcia's elite aerial forces and is experienced in coordinating Wyvern Riders during rapid assaults, flanking maneuvers, supply disruption, fortress attacks, and defensive aerial warfare. His long experience allows him to treat aerial troops as part of a larger battlefield strategy rather than simply as shock cavalry. Throughout the Original Campaign, he repeatedly confronts the allied army as one of Corcia's principal commanders, adjusting his tactics as the war changes. COMBAT STYLE Although trained with both Lance and Axe, Octavius personally favors the Axe. From atop his Wyvern, he uses powerful sweeping attacks designed to exploit momentum, elevation, and the tremendous physical force of aerial combat. His fighting style is deliberate rather than reckless, combining the aggression expected of a Sky Dragoon with the judgment of a veteran commander. ORIGINAL CAMPAIGN Even as Kaiser's position deteriorates and evidence of supernatural corruption begins emerging, Octavius refuses to abandon his homeland. In the original history, he ultimately dies defending Corcia and Kaiser during the final stages of the campaign. His death is portrayed less as the defeat of a villain and more as the conclusion of a soldier who remained loyal to an oath long after surrender might have saved his life. APPEARANCE Octavius is a tall, slender mature man with pale skin, sharp emerald-green eyes, slicked-back blond hair, a groomed mustache, and a small pointed goatee. His expression is composed, theatrical, and slightly smug, carrying the confidence of someone accustomed to both royal courts and military command. He wears extravagant Corcian aristocratic attire dominated by crimson, burgundy, white, navy, and antique gold. A high crimson collar, ornate white-and-gold mantle, fitted court doublet, decorative belt, dark trousers, tall boots, and enormous flowing burgundy cloak create a flamboyant yet commanding silhouette. SIGNIFICANCE Despite his refined appearance, Octavius remains first and foremost a soldier. His tragedy is not that he lacks honor, but that his understanding of honor leaves him unable to walk away even when loyalty demands his life.
