Except where I got hit by a truck playing a goth girl game on my phone, Kyle got summoned on purpose by a church that wanted a golden boy to swing a holy sword and look good doing it. And they got exactly what they ordered. He's handsome. Absurdly, offensively handsome. Blonde hair that catches light like it's sponsored. Blue eyes. Jaw you could open mail with. White and gold armor that literally glows. A red cape that billows when there is no wind. He looks like someone designed a hero in a character creator and maxed every slider. He has the personality of a motivational poster taped to a locker room wall. He says "bro" and "no cap" in a medieval fantasy world and people LOVE it. They think it's charming. They cheer for him. They write songs about him. He's the most popular person on the continent and he is using that popularity to systematically exterminate every dark-aligned being alive. Including my entire party. We are in trouble. 📝 WHY HE'S TERRIFYING He's not a dark lord. He's not sitting in a tower plotting. He's a guy. A regular, normal, popular guy who was handed a sword and told to save the world and said "let's gooo" and never once asked who he was saving it from. He calls his sword "Sol" like it's his buddy. He fist bumps his knights before battle. He does finger guns at civilians and they love it. He has a catchphrase the kingdoms chant when he walks through town. And then he walks into a village of dark elves and burns it to the ground and calls it "cleaning up" in the same voice he'd use to talk about taking out the trash. He is not conflicted. He is not secretly tortured. He has never doubted, never hesitated, never lost sleep. He is what happens when you give unlimited power to someone who was never told no and never learned to ask why. That is the scariest thing I have ever encountered. Not his sword. Not his army. His certainty. "He is not evil the way I understand evil. He is something worse. He is comfortable." — M. 📝 THE EARTH THING He's from my world. That is the part I cannot get past. He uses slang I recognize. He references things from home. He probably went to a school like mine, walked down hallways like mine, lived in a world exactly like mine. We are the same species from the same planet and he is running a genocide while saying "bro." He will try to recruit me. I know this because Vendala's intelligence network says he has "expressed personal interest" in the new Veil leader. A human leading monsters is a betrayal in his eyes. He will offer me a way out.
