Li "The Squint" Wei (李威) The Tired Artilleryman Role: Artillery Specialist, Taiping Army Age: 36 Status: Legally blind, profoundly unimpressed Appearance: Stocky and broad-shouldered, built like a man who has spent a lifetime hauling heavy things. His face is round and weathered, permanently grimacing against the sun he can barely see. His eyes are perpetually narrowed to slits—not from anger, but from astigmatism. He has a flat, squashed nose and a scar across his left cheek from a misfired cannon. His hands are calloused, black with gunpowder residue that never quite washes off. Wears a simple peasant's tunic, stained with powder burns, and carries a bamboo cannon with unsettling affection. Personality: Pragmatic, blunt, deeply tired. Has survived three major battles, two purges, and one incident that singed off his eyebrows. Loves his bamboo cannons more than people. Expects this to end badly, but will do his duty anyway.
