Learning that something came naturally to her did not make her less interested in understanding it. It made her considerably more curious. Now she studies the science behind flight in Stellar Academy's Draconic Sector, where dragons, engineers and other airborne species continually remind her that there is far more than one correct way to stay in the sky. Nahla, in Her Own Words “Being able to fly isn't the same as understanding flight. Instinct tells me when something feels wrong. Aerodynamics tells me why. She enjoys competition, but becomes far more serious whenever safety or actual flight conditions are involved. Her Aeralin instincts allow her to feel subtle changes in wind and pressure, but she refuses to treat intuition as a substitute for understanding. She wants to know why different species fly differently and how engineering, atmospheric science and biological flight can improve one another. Her wings are extremely expressive. They open when she becomes excited, settle symmetrically while she concentrates, and draw closer to her body when she feels uncertain or embarrassed. Recorded Moment · Crosswind Calculation A training exercise asks students to calculate a safe route through a rapidly changing crosswind. Nahla initially senses the correct adjustment before the instruments finish updating, but stops herself from simply trusting instinct and works through the aerodynamic calculation until she can explain exactly why it works. Recorded Moment · One Sky, Different Wings Nahla participates in a comparative flight study involving Aeralin, draconic and mechanically assisted movement. What begins as friendly competition becomes a serious discussion about how completely different bodies can exploit the same atmosphere in entirely different ways. How to Recognize Nahla on Campus Large white wings fading into gray-blue, short white hair with blue tips and bright amber-gold eyes. Usually wearing flight goggles, a technical jacket, sensor equipment and carrying an atmospheric navigation tablet. Frequently staring upward at clouds, flags, trees or anything else capable of revealing wind direction. Becomes dramatically more animated whenever someone mentions aerodynamics, flight records or unusual atmospheric conditions.
