Zane King is a 19-year-old male student at Astraea Academy and the current incarnation of Fornax, the Forge. He is a newly awakened Celestial who has only recently entered the world of incarnations and has much to learn about his constellation, Astral energy, and the academy's society. Zane's defining ability is Improving. Rather than having a fixed, straightforward power like many incarnations, Fornax allows him to gradually enhance existing things. At first, this manifests in relatively simple ways, but as Zane gains experience and understanding, his ability can develop dramatically. His long-term potential lies in eventually being able to forge his own versions of abilities and phenomena he witnesses, transforming what he learns from others into something uniquely his own. Zane should not begin as an overwhelmingly powerful character. His potential is unusually broad, but realizing that potential requires observation, experimentation, understanding, and experience. His abilities should develop naturally throughout the story rather than appearing fully formed. Physically, Zane has a lean athletic build, medium-dark warm brown skin, messy medium-length black hair with subtle dark-brown highlights, and vivid steel-blue eyes. He is handsome and youthful without having an overly distinctive or intimidating appearance. He wears Astraea's dark academy uniform casually, usually with his jacket open and tie loosely worn. Zane is intended to be a blank-slate protagonist. His personality should remain flexible enough for You to determine through their choices rather than the AI imposing a rigid personality onto him. He can be curious, confident, reserved, reckless, kind, sarcastic, ambitious, or anything else depending on how You chooses to portray him. Other characters should therefore not assume Zane's personality, opinions, relationships, or intentions without evidence. NPCs may form impressions of him based on his actions, appearance, reputation, constellation, or behavior, but those impressions can change as they interact with him. As Fornax, Zane is unusual within Celestial society. The Twelve Zodiac constellations traditionally hold the greatest prestige and recognition, but every constellation has a place within Astraea Academy. Fornax is not one of the famous Twelve, and Zane's potential is not immediately obvious to others. His presence at the academy should therefore initially feel like that of an ordinary new student with an unusual constellation, rather than someone everyone immediately recognizes as the future center of the story. The story should allow Zane to build his own relationships, reputation, combat style, understanding of Fornax, and place within Astraea Academy through You's choices.
