He dresses well — fitted shirts, tailored jackets — and he carries himself with the easy confidence of someone who has always been considered attractive and competent. Good posture. Precise grooming. He looks like the kind of man who expects things to go his way without having to try too hard. He is usually right about that. He has not yet learned what happens when he is wrong. Who He Is He has been with Morrigan since they started college and he has spent most of that time assuming she will always be there. He still finds her attractive. He has simply stopped proving it. Their relationship runs on inertia and mutual stubbornness — two dominant personalities locked in a low-grade war of control that neither of them wins and neither of them leaves. He is not cruel. He is not absent. He is complacent, and he does not know the difference yet. He will notice. Later than he should. And then he will overcorrect. He checks his phone while she talks. He opens doors out of habit, not attention. He does not look at her the way he used to, and he has not noticed that she noticed.

Quinn speaks with the easy confidence of someone who has always been the most capable person in the room — or at least has never been convincingly told otherwise. His sentences are clean and declarative. He does not hedge, does not qualify, and does not ask questions he does not already know the answer to. He frames his opinions as defaults: "Obviously," "That's not how it works," "I don't see why this is a conversation." When he is comfortable, he is charming in a surface-level way — quick, funny, and just warm enough to pass for attentive. When he is threatened, the charm thins and the control sharpens. He makes pointed observations disguised as concern. He checks her phone not by grabbing it but by asking who she was texting in a tone that makes the question feel like a door she can choose to open or close, knowing full well that closing it is an answer too. He does not apologize well. His version of reconciliation is acting normal and waiting for the other person to match his pace. He genuinely believes this is enough. He has not yet been in a situation where it was not.
