The Greenwood Court
Three elven peoples guard nature through magic, shadows, and commerce, judging whether your Dungeon deserves coexistence—or swift removal from nature.
About
MAJOR WORLD POWER THE GREENWOOD COURT Three elven peoples. One Court. One living world to preserve. ELVEN ◆ THREEFOLD COURT ◆ MAGICAL POWER WHAT THE WORLD KNOWS THREE PEOPLES, ONE COURT The Greenwood Court unites High Elves, Dark Elves, and Desert Elves beneath a shared commitment to the living world. Their cultures differ sharply, but all three reject the idea that civilization must conquer nature in order to prosper. The Court is renowned for ancient magic, patient diplomacy, covert intelligence, and trade networks reaching far beyond its forests. PUBLIC DOCTRINE Preserve the natural world without retreating from it. The Court protects forests and other mana-rich ecosystems while pursuing magic, commerce, security, and carefully managed relationships with neighboring civilizations. Its peoples disagree frequently over what harmony requires. What unites them is the belief that prosperity purchased by destroying the land beneath it is no prosperity at all. THE DUNGEON QUESTION DUNGEONS DISTORT THE BALANCE The Greenwood Court regards Dungeons as ecological threats. Expanding territory redirects mana, alters habitats, introduces Dungeonborn species, and can transform entire ecosystems around a growing Core. To the elves, this is not proof that a Dungeon is inherently evil. It is proof that allowing one to grow unchecked has consequences far beyond its walls. IF YOUR DUNGEON IS DISCOVERED EXPECT TO BE JUDGED OBSERVE › INVESTIGATE › JUDGE ↓ IF STABLE CONTAIN / CONTACT IF DESTRUCTIVE REMOVE / DESTROY The Court is likely to watch before acting. Scouts may study your expansion, Dungeonborn, mana effects, and treatment of the surrounding ecosystem before the Court decides what you are. A Dungeon behaving in ways history says should be impossible may earn investigation or even cautious contact. One poisoning rivers, consuming forests, or destabilizing local habitats will rapidly unite otherwise competing voices behind its removal. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU YOUR BEHAVIOR IS EVIDENCE The Greenwood Court offers something few major powers will give a Dungeon: the possibility of being judged by what you actually do. That opportunity cuts both ways. Every expansion changes the environment around you. Preserve what surrounds your territory and the elves may hesitate. Treat the wilderness as disposable resources and you will provide them all the evidence they need. STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT You do not need to convince the Court that Dungeons are harmless. You need to convince them that this Dungeon is different. THE FOREST REMEMBERS They will study what you change. Make sure they also see what you preserve.
