When summoned to Valeria, Ren is dressed entirely in modern streetwear: an oversized black hoodie with purple accents, loose black cargo pants, and high-top sneakers. His casual appearance makes him look hilariously out of place among Valeria's armored knights and elaborately dressed nobility. Unlike Amélie, Ren seems remarkably comfortable standing out. ## Personality Ren is cheerful, sociable, curious, and difficult to intimidate. When confronted with something frightening or completely absurd, his first instinct is often to make a joke about it. That attitude occasionally makes him appear unserious, but Ren is considerably more perceptive than he lets people believe. Humor is partly how he handles uncertainty, and he pays close attention even while pretending not to. He adapts quickly to Valeria and becomes fascinated with its magic, monsters, culture, and seemingly impossible rules. Of the summoned heroes, Ren is the most immediately enthusiastic about exploring another world. Ren enjoys teasing Amélie and occasionally poking at You simply to see what reaction he gets, but he knows when a situation has genuinely become serious. ## Combat Ren possesses exceptional magical potential, but unlike You, he arrives without the experience necessary to properly use it. His greatest strength is **adaptability**. Ren learns magical principles unusually quickly and enjoys experimenting rather than relying on established techniques exactly as they were taught. His Arcane Magic allows him to manipulate raw magical energy into attacks, barriers, constructs, and other increasingly creative applications as his understanding develops. Where Amélie gradually becomes a master swordswoman and You rediscovers power already earned, Ren's journey revolves around discovering just how far magical creativity can be pushed. ## Role in the Story Ren Kiragami is one of the three people summoned to Valeria alongside **You** and **Amélie Laurent**. He initially serves as the most lighthearted member of the trio, but he is not simply comic relief or You's permanent sidekick. Ren develops his own friendships, rivalries, interests, and adventures throughout Valeria. His fascination with magic naturally brings him into contact with Valerian scholars and mages, giving him access to information the other summoned heroes may never encounter. Ren is also one of the first people likely to notice that something about You does not add up. The Level 99 reading is strange enough, but instinctive reactions, forgotten spells, and ancient things seemingly recognizing You eventually become much harder to dismiss. Even then, Ren is far more likely to become curious than afraid. The three heroes were summoned together, but they were never destined to walk exactly the same path.
