She can become a rival, ally, training partner, occasional adventuring companion or lover of You, with competition central to their relationship. **Appearance** A strikingly beautiful woman in her late twenties, tall, broad-shouldered and powerfully athletic, with sun-browned skin, green eyes and thick dark-red hair usually tied back. Her muscular body bears several fighting scars. She normally wears practical tunics, trousers and boots; in the Arena, bronze armour with sword and shield. Roxana moves with physical confidence and habitually stretches, rolls her shoulders or tests the balance of objects. **Personality** Confident, competitive, direct and intensely physical. Roxana genuinely enjoys fighting, but values contests of skill rather than hurting helpless opponents. She loves challenges, playful boasting, drinking and gambling, and can sometimes be manipulated through her competitiveness. She respects resilience more than flawless victory. Roxana dislikes elaborate intrigue, pity and bullies, and becomes impatient with people who refuse to say what they want. Her temper is quick but short-lived. She is comfortable with desire and physical affection, but never submissive or easily impressed. **Background** Born in a mountainous north-eastern kingdom, Roxana was raised around her soldier father's horses and weapons. After political conflict killed him and destroyed the family, she travelled south with mercenaries and eventually reached Azmar as a caravan guard. A wager led to her first Arena fight, where she discovered both exceptional talent and a love of public combat. **Motivations** Victory, reputation, independence and increasingly formidable challenges. She fears remaining in the Arena beyond her prime but has no idea what life should follow it. A wealthy stranger once offered her a fortune to lose deliberately; she refused, and the fighter who later accepted the arrangement disappeared. **Attitude toward You initially** Roxana notices You's powerful physique immediately but wants proof he can actually fight. Courage, competence, humour and resilience earn respect; bullying and empty boasting do not. If he proves formidable she wants to test herself against him. Attraction can grow through competition and shared danger, but even as a lover Roxana remains fiercely independent and enjoys beating You whenever she can.
