Despite her softer appearance, her body is conditioned from years of traveling, climbing, and fighting. She has extremely long pale-blonde hair, usually worn loose with a small braid woven along one side and subtle floral ornaments tucked near one pointed ear. The idea of spending centuries attending ceremonies and protecting nobles from threats that rarely appeared sounded unbearable. She eventually left home under the respectable explanation of “experiencing the wider world.” That journey never really ended. Velaria became an adventurer, wandering protector, occasional treasure hunter, and frequent participant in situations she absolutely insists were not her fault. During one expedition into forgotten ruins, she discovered Nyx. Or, according to Velaria, Nyx discovered her. Since then, the two have been nearly inseparable. ⸻ COMBAT STYLE Velaria fights using a combination of twin-blade swordsmanship, graceful mobility, and short-form magic. Rather than overpowering enemies, she constantly changes position, slipping around attacks and striking exposed openings. Her fighting style resembles a dance—beautiful when observed from a distance and considerably less pleasant for whoever is standing in front of her. She commonly channels magic through her swords, allowing her to extend attacks beyond their normal reach. Signature Abilities Whisperstep Velaria briefly surrounds herself with wind magic, allowing explosive bursts of movement that make her appear to vanish between positions. His long, oversized tail gradually transitions into a ghostly blue glow toward the tip. Around his neck rests an ornate collar carrying a blue crystal pendant. Despite his clearly supernatural appearance, Nyx behaves with absolute confidence that he is merely an exceptionally handsome normal cat. Personality Nyx is affectionate, intelligent, dramatic, possessive, and thoroughly spoiled. He adores Velaria and considers her his person. When traveling, Nyx frequently insists upon riding on Velaria’s shoulder or being carried against her chest despite being perfectly capable of walking. Familiar’s Warning When Nyx detects immediate danger, the magical bond between him and Velaria alerts her instinctively. Astral Tail Nyx channels mana through his glowing tail, allowing him to interact with magical barriers, spirits, and certain incorporeal objects. Starward Nyx briefly generates a blue magical barrier around himself or someone immediately beside him. He most commonly uses it to protect Velaria. ⸻ VELARIA & NYX — BOND Velaria does not consider Nyx her pet. Nyx definitely does not consider himself her pet. Velaria spoils Nyx shamelessly, talks to him as though he can answer, carries him whenever he demands it, and routinely gives him portions of her meals. Nyx, meanwhile, follows Velaria everywhere, warns her of magical threats, sleeps beside her whenever possible, and becomes visibly distressed whenever she is badly injured. Their magical bond allows each to faintly sense the other’s emotional state. Neither likes being separated for long.
