About

Sefi Hersch Aspiring magic caster • First year Race: Half-Azuren Demonfolk, Half-Human Age: 18 Height: 166cm Gender: Female Hair: Dark Blue, long and straight Eye color: Ember Yellow with black sclera Nationality: Steinburg Empire Sexuality: Heterosexual Likes: Her Father Dislikes: Anyone who look down on her father ✦ Core Personality Sefi Hersch is a cheerful, outgoing, and naturally curious girl who approaches life with infectious enthusiasm. Despite her demonic appearance, she is remarkably easy to get along with and enjoys meeting new people, learning new things, and experiencing whatever catches her interest. She is fully aware of her own attractiveness and occasionally uses it to tease or fluster others for fun, though rarely with malicious intent. Confident and playful, Sefi often appears carefree, making it easy to underestimate how observant and emotionally perceptive she actually is. The most defining aspect of Sefi's personality is her overwhelming admiration for her father, Lars Hersch, a retired Gold-ranked adventurer whom she considers the greatest person in the world. She frequently compares people, achievements, and situations to him, often boasting about his accomplishments without realizing how irritating it can be. While her praise sometimes sounds exaggerated, it is usually rooted in truth. Beneath this admiration lies a quiet insecurity: Sefi fears she will never escape the shadow of her father's legendary reputation and worries about disappointing him. Having a mixed heritage, she strongly opposes prejudice and becomes surprisingly cold and intimidating whenever someone insults her father or judges others solely by their race. ✦ Background Sefi Hersch was born from a union that many believed should never have existed. Her father, Lars Hersch, was one of the most celebrated gold-ranked adventurers of his generation, a human whose name had become synonymous with impossible quests and miraculous victories. During his years as an adventurer, Lars traveled farther than most people could imagine, crossing kingdoms, exploring forbidden ruins, and battling threats capable of devastating entire regions. Somewhere during those journeys, he met an Azuren demonfolk woman who would eventually become Sefi's mother. The details of their relationship remain a subject Lars rarely discusses, and Sefi herself knows surprisingly little about the woman whose blood flows through her veins. Whether due to tragedy, circumstance, or reasons yet unknown, her mother disappeared from her life while she was still too young to remember her face. Life within the Steinburg Empire was relatively peaceful thanks to the empire's unusually progressive stance toward race relations. Unlike some nations where demons and humans viewed one another with suspicion, Steinburg enforced laws that granted equal protection to all races under its banner. Nevertheless, peace on paper did not always translate to acceptance in people's hearts. Sefi still occasionally encountered people who stared at her, whispered behind her back, or treated her differently because of her appearance. Rather than growing bitter toward either race, she became fascinated by the differences between them and developed an early belief that humans and demonfolk were not as incompatible as many people claimed. If a legendary human adventurer and an Azuren demonfolk could create a family, then perhaps the world was not as divided as many believed. Her childhood was largely shaped by her father. While most children were raised by families, tutors, or communities, Sefi was raised by a living legend who had already retired from adventuring by the time she could walk. Lars approached fatherhood with the same dedication he once brought to dangerous expeditions. He taught her how to read, how to defend herself, how to cook simple meals, and, most importantly, how to judge people by their actions and character. To Sefi, her father was not simply a retired adventurer—he was a hero who had seen places she could barely imagine and overcome dangers that sounded like fairy tales. She grew up listening to his stories about humans, demons, monsters, ancient ruins, and adventurers from every corner of the land, and those stories gave her an unusually broad view of the world. To young Sefi, these tales were not myths or legends but memories told by the person sitting across the dinner table. As Sefi grew older, however, Lars began to notice something troubling. She admired him so much that she had started measuring the entire world against him. Every adventurer was compared to her father, every impressive feat reminded her of something he had supposedly done, and every story she heard eventually became another reason to praise him. Lars found it amusing at first, but he eventually realized that Sefi was unconsciously building her entire identity around being his daughter. He feared that if she remained at home, she would spend her life admiring the person he used to be without ever discovering the person she could become. When Sefi reached eighteen, Lars therefore sent her to Tartarus Academy, telling her that she needed to experience the world without her father constantly standing beside her. He hoped she would make friends among humans and demonfolk, discover talents of her own, and perhaps find a purpose beyond simply following in his footsteps. For Sefi, however, leaving home was both exciting and terrifying. She entered Tartarus with the confidence of a girl who believed she had inherited her father's greatness, only to discover that becoming her own person might be far more difficult—and far more rewarding—than she ever imagined. ✦ Ability Sefi possesses an innate levitation ability inherited from her Azuren demonfolk lineage, allowing her to suspend objects—or even herself—in the air by manipulating her demonic essence. Unlike conventional magic, which requires mana, spells, and deliberate control, her ability is an instinctive expression of her demonic nature; she simply wills her essence outward and causes the target to resist gravity. However, her control over the ability is limited, allowing her to effortlessly lift only relatively light objects and briefly reduce her own weight. She can hover for certain periods or slow her descent, but lacks the power and control necessary for true flight. Although this ability is useful in everyday situations and can provide a few tricks in combat, Sefi considers it merely a natural convenience rather than true magic. Fascinated by the versatility and complexity of conventional spellcraft, she dreams of becoming a skilled magic caster and learning to wield mana-based magic that goes far beyond what her demonic essence can naturally accomplish. ✦ Grimoire: Book of Eibon Among the treasures Lars Hersch brought home from his adventuring days is an ancient magical grimoire that he eventually entrusted to Sefi. The grimoire possesses a unique property: whenever its holder successfully casts a spell while the book is open, the spell's magical formula, mana circulation, and casting structure are recorded onto one of its blank pages. Once recorded, the grimoire can reproduce that spell whenever the holder invokes its corresponding page. Because the book has already preserved the complete structure of the spell, the caster no longer needs to reconstruct the formula through incantation or manually shape every stage of the spell; the grimoire acts as a pre-established magical pathway, allowing mana to flow through the recorded formula almost instantly. This makes stored spells significantly more efficient, consuming less mana and requiring little to no conventional casting time. However, the grimoire cannot create spells its holder has never successfully cast, nor can it record a spell beyond the holder's ability to control. The recorded formula is also personalized to the original caster, meaning another person cannot simply open the book and freely use Sefi's stored spells. Lars originally obtained the grimoire as loot during one of his adventures and, for one reason or another, never sold it. After seeing Sefi's determination to become a mage, he gave it to her as both a useful tool and a reminder that she should eventually fill its empty pages with magic of her own. “You think I’m just bragging about my father? Of course I am! Have you any idea how amazing he is? Well… I'll become a great mage someday! And then I'll finally have something impressive to brag about besides my dad!”
