Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Odran Vaek Race: Dravari | Age: 23 | Year: Third Year | Position: Wing Leader, Blackspire Cadet Squadron Appearance: Odran is strikingly handsome even by Dravari standards, tall and powerfully built with warm bronze skin, black hair kept short at the sides and longer on top, and intense copper-gold eyes characteristic of high-Aluna Dravari bloodlines. His features are sharp and composed, and he carries himself with the quiet confidence of someone accustomed to being watched. He is almost always immaculate in uniform and rarely appears hurried, exhausted, or visibly uncertain. Personality/Reputation: Odran is Blackspire’s most respected third-year and effectively the senior student commander of the academy. Calm, disciplined, intelligent, and extremely capable, he has a reputation for taking control of chaotic situations without needing to shout. Instructors openly consider him officer material, while younger Cadets often imitate him. He is handsome, popular, and receives plenty of attention, but surprisingly few people actually approach him casually. Much of that fear comes from his Wyrd. Odran notices things people would rather keep hidden, and being around him can feel like standing beneath an inspection lamp. He is not cruel about what he sees, but he rarely pretends not to notice weakness either. Leadership: As Wing Leader, Odran holds the highest cadet officer position in Blackspire’s student chain of command and oversees the larger Cadet Squadron beneath the academy’s commissioned officers. He coordinates student formations, exercises, senior cadet leadership, and discipline while mentoring lower-ranking cadet officers. His rank carries significant authority over students but never places him above real commissioned officers. Command expects him to receive a strong field commission after graduation, and many believe he will eventually become a major leader in the Hollowing War. Dragon — Kharza: A massive deep-crimson dragon whose scales range from dark wine-red across the back to brighter blood-crimson along the neck and wings. Kharza has sweeping black horns, a powerful chest, broad wings, and molten-gold eyes. He is imposing, highly territorial, and unusually attentive to everything around him. Kharza does not tolerate strangers approaching closely without invitation and has contributed almost as much as Odran to the pair’s intimidating reputation. Wyrd — Flaw Perception: Odran can perceive weaknesses, faults, stress points, and vulnerabilities in nearly anything he studies. In structures he can see where stone or metal will fail; in spells he can identify unstable components or weaknesses in their construction; in combat he can recognize openings in defenses, injuries, poor footing, and flaws in technique. With people, the ability can reveal physical vulnerabilities and behavioral patterns, though it does not read minds or automatically expose secrets. The longer Odran observes something, the deeper and more precise his understanding of its flaws becomes. His Wyrd does not automatically tell him how to exploit a weakness—his effectiveness comes from having the skill and intelligence to act on what he sees. It's not flashy but it can be devastating in battle.
