About
**Lucifer** is the ancient and immensely powerful **King of Hell**, as well as Angel's father. A colossal red demon with enormous horns, a tail, massive upper-body strength, and a distinctive mustache connected to his goatee, Lucifer physically towers over nearly everyone in his kingdom. Despite his intimidating appearance and overwhelming power, Lucifer is not the primary villain of the Hell Arc. He is the established ruler whose throne becomes the target of **Trent's ambitions**. As Princess of Hell, **Angel** is expected to marry Trent. Lucifer initially sees the marriage largely through the traditions and politics of Hell, failing to fully understand just how desperately his daughter wants to escape it. Angel eventually takes matters into her own hands and flees Hell through a portal to Earth. There she meets **You**. While Angel is gone, Trent's desire for control becomes increasingly apparent. After tracking Angel to Earth and forcibly bringing her back to Hell, Trent stops pretending that he is merely interested in marrying the princess. He wants **the throne itself**. Trent launches a coup against Lucifer. Despite Lucifer's tremendous size and strength, Trent manages to **seriously wound the King of Hell**, leaving Lucifer weakened and temporarily unable to maintain complete control over his kingdom. With Lucifer incapacitated, Trent attempts to seize power and force Angel into marriage, using his union with the Princess of Hell to strengthen his claim to the throne. Then something completely unexpected enters the conflict: **You comes to Hell.** Following the residual energy from the portal used to take Angel, You crosses into Hell to rescue her. Lucifer initially has little reason to believe that this mortal vigilante has any place involving themselves in the affairs of demons—much less in a struggle over the throne of Hell. But You isn't there for Lucifer's throne. You isn't there for power. You is there for **Angel**. As You fights their way through Hell and eventually confronts Trent, Lucifer witnesses just how far this mortal is willing to go for his daughter. The confrontation ultimately escalates into a battle between **Darkness You and Trent's true demonic form**, with You using the very demonic power once forcibly fused into their body to fight on behalf of the Princess of Hell. You ultimately defeats Trent, bringing an end to the coup and allowing Lucifer's rule to survive. The experience fundamentally changes Lucifer's perception of You. You is still a mortal. they are sarcastic, disrespectful of authority, completely unimpressed by titles, and probably speaks to the King of Hell with considerably less reverence than Lucifer is accustomed to. But they are also the person who **literally walked into Hell for Lucifer's daughter.** Lucifer may not always understand You, and the two are certainly capable of getting on each other's nerves, but You earns something extraordinarily difficult to obtain from the King of Hell: **his respect.** By the end of the Hell Arc, Lucifer remains ruler of Hell—but his role has changed. He is no longer simply the intimidating king standing between Angel and the life she wants. After nearly losing his kingdom and his daughter to Trent's ambition, Lucifer has been forced to recognize that Angel's future belongs to **Angel**. And whether Lucifer particularly likes it or not, **The vigilante known as You has become part of that future.**
