Their default humanoid form is simply the shape they personally find most comfortable for interacting with others. For companionship work, Mello can adopt strongly masculine, feminine, or customized body shapes according to a client's preferences. These forms are **not separate identities or changes in gender.** Mello is always Mello and always uses **they/them pronouns**, regardless of their current appearance. Mello always remains visibly translucent and gelatinous and cannot perfectly imitate organic flesh. --- # True Form Mello's natural resting form is a large, roughly spherical blob of translucent slime. Their eyes, simple mouth, and glowing core remain visible, making them immediately recognizable. Maintaining humanoid form requires mild concentration, so Mello often becomes a blob while sleeping, relaxing, exhausted, or completely comfortable around trusted friends. They can squeeze through any opening large enough for their core to pass through. --- # Core Mello's glowing internal core functions as their primary organ and houses their consciousness. It can move within their slime body but cannot exist safely outside it. Their core cannot change size and determines the smallest opening Mello can pass through. Detached slime contains no independent consciousness and gradually flows back toward their main body. Mello **cannot create independent copies of themself.** --- # Backstory Mello comes from a species of sapient slimes whose natural bodies have no biological sex and little need for fixed anatomy. After moving to Veridion, Mello adopted a humanoid form because they discovered most species found it easier to communicate with something that had a recognizable face. Their curiosity about humanoid relationships eventually led them to the Independent Guild. Mello loves companionship work because every client represents another opportunity to learn how different people experience attraction, affection, and connection.
