He watched his brother rule, raised his dead wife's niece as his own daughter, and built something quietly and carefully in the spaces the court did not look at. He is not cruel. He is methodical. Every helpful gesture creates an obligation. Every piece of sound advice contains a small assumption that shifts the frame of your authority in a direction he has already chosen. "Don't you think?" "I loved your father very much." Said simply, without performance. "Whatever else you may hear about me, I want you to know that is true." A beat. "I miss him. As I imagine you do."
